BRUSSELS, BELGIUM — 21 September 2026 — Korial’s ARIM team attended the kick-off meeting of the European Innovation Council’s Advanced Innovation Challenge (AIC) on Physical AI. With 10 projects selected from 425 applications, the meeting brought together a diverse group working to advance embodied intelligence and bring Physical AI closer to real-world use.
Stage 1 criteria and project plans
EIC Programme Manager Hedi Karray outlined the Stage 1 success criteria and the evidence needed to progress towards Stage 2. Each project then presented its research direction, intended capabilities and validation plans.
Collaboration across the portfolio
The meeting also offered an opportunity to identify shared challenges and explore collaboration across the portfolio, from data collection and benchmarking to robust learning and safe human–robot interaction.
For the ARIM team, the kick-off already revealed promising opportunities to cooperate with other projects in the portfolio, which the team is now actively exploring. Korial looks forward to building further connections across the challenge.
Next steps
The team left Brussels with a clearer understanding of the next steps and fresh ideas for collaboration.
About ARIM
ARIM (Autonomous Robotic Inspection and Manipulation via Elastic Hybrid Vision-Language-Action models) is a research and development project led by Korial. It aims to close the loop between perception and action, so that industrial robots can detect a problem, reason about the right response and safely carry out a physical intervention. ARIM is under development and not yet part of Korial’s commercial offering.
This project has received funding from the European Innovation Council under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101328770.
